I thought we were celebrating my promotion, but my boyfriend Troy had other plans. He insisted I hand over my card to pay for dinner, making a scene and embarrassing me in front of the waitress.

But that wasn’t the worst of it – he also flirted with her and offered his number! I was done.

As we sat down at the fancy restaurant, I could sense something off. Troy seemed distant, and his usual charm was replaced with a bitter attitude.

He barely congratulated me on my promotion, and when he did, it felt insincere. I brushed it off, thinking maybe he was just having a bad day.

But when the check came, he demanded I pay with my card, claiming he didn’t have enough cash. I was taken aback but tried to brush it off. I thought maybe he was just trying to be macho, but his behavior was starting to feel like a slap in the face.

“I’ll just pay with my card,” I said, trying to avoid a scene.

But Troy wouldn’t let up. He kept pushing, insisting that I hand over my card. I felt like I was being bullied, and my celebratory mood was quickly turning sour.

But then, he took it too far. He flirted with the waitress, writing his number on a napkin and making me feel humiliated.

That’s when I knew I had to take a stand. I excused myself, disabled my card, and watched as Troy struggled to pay the bill.

The waitress eventually threw away the napkin with his number, and I left the restaurant, realizing I deserved better. No relationship should make you feel small or ashamed of your accomplishments. I’m finally over him, and I’m not looking back.

It’s funny how one night can reveal the true colors of someone you thought you knew. I’m grateful for that night, humiliating as it was. It showed me that I deserve better, and I won’t settle for anything less.
