The criminal trial for Jonathan Majors has begun.
The 33-year-old was accompanied by his brand-new girlfriend Meagan Good as he attended Manhattan Criminal Court in New York City on Tuesday for a hearing.
Tuesday morning, the new couple entered and left the courtroom together with Jonathan’s attorneys while holding hands.
The defense abandoned a motion that it had previously made during the hearing that Jonathan virtually attended last month on Tuesday.
After Jonathan’s arrest on March 25 and subsequent arraignment on many minor assault and harassment counts, Judge Rachel S. Pauley subsequently set an August 3 date for a trial in his case.
The actor entered the courtroom dressed in a dark brown suit. He said good morning to the judge and thanked her for telling him to show up in person at Manhattan Criminal Court in August to begin his trial.
“We presented the District Attorney with proof of Mr. Majors’ innocence within a few weeks of these fraudulent accusations. We provided the District Attorney with further strong evidence last week, according to Jonathan’s lawyer Priya Chaudhry, who released a statement on Tuesday.
“In light of this, we vehemently demanded that the District Attorney immediately drop all charges against Mr. Majors… While we are optimistic that the District Attorney is considering these documents with good faith and will act appropriately shortly, we have asked for a trial date as soon as possible in order to move our case along.
On Thursday, August 3, Jonathan is scheduled to return to court, at which time his case will be tried. If he is still with Meagan by that time, it will be interesting to see.
