Jada Pinkett Smith talked about how she felt when she heard that the person she thought killed her friend Tupac was arrested.
She said she wants “closure” over the death of Shakur, who was killed in 1996. Smith is 52 years old. They were very close, and she has talked about it in public before.
“Now I hope we can get some answers and put this behind us,” Smith wrote on Friday after being arrested. “R.I.P. Pac,” she said, adding a dove emoji at the end.
The famous rapper was shot and killed on September 13, 1996. According to the Associated Press and ABC News, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department had arrested Duane “Keffe D” Davis as a suspect in his murder.
Davis’s arrest is the first big step forward in the cold case.
A report from the AP says Davis was arrested early Friday morning and charged with murder with a gang enhancement. Authorities in Las Vegas said at a news conference on Friday that he was the “on-ground, on-site commander” who “ordered the death” of Shakur.
Tupac, who was 25 years old, was at the top of his game when he died.
