There are many beautiful things about Jacqueline Bisset.
With a career that spans 58 years and about 50 movies to her name, the 78-year-old actor doesn’t seem to be slowing down.
To me, Jacqueline Bisset has always been a great example of a woman, and my parents loved her. She really is one of the few actors who makes me think of how glamorous Hollywood used to be.
The stunning brunette beauty, famous for her high cheekbones and bright green eyes, has played many characters over the course of her long career. She was the seductive Miss Goodthighs in the spy parody Casino Royale (1967) and a loving mother in Sleepy Time Gal (2001).
First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in America’s Prince: The John F. Kennedy Jr. Story (2003) and Anna Karenina (1985), a big love story with Christopher Reeves as the lead.
In 1966, Bisset made her acting debut in Roman Polanski’s Cul-de-Sac. She became famous when she starred in three movies in a row in 1968: Detective with Frank Sinatra, Bullitt with Steve McQueen, and The Sweet Ride with Tony Franciosa and Bob Denver, who is best known for playing Gilligan on Gilligan’s Island.
You may also know her from her roles in Day for Night (1973), Murder on the Orient Express (1974), The Deep (1977), Wild Orchid (1990), Joan of Arc (1999), Miss You Already (2015), Birds of Paradise (2021), and the miniseries Dancing on the Edge (2013), for which she won a Golden Globe.
The actor, who speaks English, French, and Italian, was given the Legion of Honor, France’s greatest honor, in 2010. In 2023, the Sedona International Film Festival gave her a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Even though she has worked with some of Hollywood’s sexiest guys, Bisset has never been married. Sinatra was interested in the beautiful woman, and reports spread that she was seeing Steve McQueen, her co-star in Bullitt and a notorious bad boy in Hollywood. British lady Bisset, though, said they were too different.
When asked about McQueen, she told the Daily Mail, “He was pretty, but a little scary.” Compared to him, I was very English. I was confused by his language—he talked like a crazy person!”
She has been with Canadian actor Michael Sarrazin, ballet dancer Alexander Godunov, and actor Vincent Pérez for a long time, but she says she’s too independent for a long-term romance.
While talking to the Independent, Bisset said, “I’ve been with some very interesting men.” Their behavior has been bad. I am told that I do not pick easy guys. “Sometimes you learn too much when you spend time with people,” she said. Bad habits begin to show themselves. You find bad habits, and then you have to marry them. I’m not sure I can handle them. There are never any bad relationships with me. I haven’t gotten angry. “I just got out of situations that were too much for me.”
Bisset is Angelina Jolie’s godmother. She hasn’t been in any crazy relationships that made the news, but she was popular after winning a Golden Globe for her role as Lady Cremone in the BBC show Dancing on the Edge.
While she was off stage, music played in the background to signal her victory speech. It was mostly made up of ramblings, but the 69-year-old woman, who had been waiting 47 years to win since her first nomination for best newcomer, showed genuine gratitude.
In the French thriller The Lodger (2020), she played a sassy femme fatale, and most recently, she was in the movie Loren & Rose (2022). Bisset plays the lead role of Rose, a famous actor who is trying to get her career back on track but is limited by her image for being “a little zany and a bit unreliable.”
The movie’s director, Russell Brown, says that Rose is the exact opposite of Bisset in real life. According to Brown, “People often think that Jacqueline is ‘like she is in the movie.'” But this isn’t really true. I think she’s very different from Rose as an actor and a woman, and it shows how good she is that the change seems so natural.
Bisset is a classic beauty who gracefully lets herself get older. In the famous statement she gave at the Golden Globes, she said, “I think you have to forgive everyone if you want to look good.” It makes you look beautiful.
She also said that even though she had “lots of complexes” as a child, she never thought about getting plastic surgery. If anything, I think it makes you look older. He said, “It makes you unique.”
