Mary J. Blige says she’s found her true love.
This past Tuesday, the R&B star talked about her past relationships on “TODAY with Hoda & Jenna.”
Mary, 53, was there to support the third annual Strength of a Woman Festival and Summit that she is putting together.
After a bad marriage to Martin “Kendu” Isaacs, Mary moved on. She told Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager that she had finally found her true love: herself.
“I love you.” She said, “I think I deserve a good relationship.” “By myself. With a friend. It comes to you when you believe it.
Mary also said, “I can be alone because I believe in love for myself. I’m not going to give up on love.” I’m not going to let a bad marriage or relationship stop me from living a happy life, falling in love, and getting the hugs, kisses, and desires I want.
Kendu Isaacs and Mary J. Blige’s tense divorce was completed in June 2018. She also struggled with drinking and drug abuse. She hasn’t used drugs or alcohol since 2019.
They were together for six years. Mary was seeing R&B star Cedric “K-Ci” Hailey of the boy band Jodeci.
She was also with rap star Nas for a short time.
A new song by Mary called “Still Believe in Love” came out last year. She told Hoda and Jenna that the song’s words “absolutely” show how she feels about life right now.
