On Friday, the 73-year-old Olympic gold medallist shared a heartfelt photo on Instagram, showing her delivering a eulogy at her mother Esther’s funeral. Esther passed away on April 20 at the age of 96.

“Yesterday, I had the honour of speaking at my mother’s memorial service. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do,” Caitlyn wrote alongside the photo. “Every day, I think about how much I miss her. She was dearly loved and will be sorely missed, but she is now in a better place.”

In the comments, Caitlyn’s son Brandon Jenner fondly remembered his grandmother, calling her “an amazing woman.”

“I’m so glad I got to say a last goodbye over the phone,” he shared. “I have many memories, but one of my favourites is when she told me, through the billowing smoke in her condo, that ‘it’s not the cigarettes that will kill you; it’s the filters.’”

Brandon, 41, added, “She rolled her own cigarettes her entire life, right up until the age of 96. Maybe she was onto something there. Grandma, we’ll catch up with you on the other side.”

Kylie Jenner, Caitlyn’s daughter, also responded with a string of white heart emojis, showing her love and support.
