Actress Candace Cameron Bure has expressed her disappointment and sadness over the Paris Olympics opening ceremony, which she believes mocked the Christian faith. Bure, a devout Christian, took issue with a segment that resembled Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper painting.
In an Instagram post, Bure shared her thoughts, saying she was disheartened by the ceremony’s interpretation of the iconic painting. Despite her respect for the Olympics and the athletes involved, she felt saddened by the event.

Bure encouraged her followers to continue sharing the gospel and not grow tired of doing good. She emphasized that even those who claim to be Christian but are lukewarm about their faith need to hear the message.
Following her post, many attempted to correct her interpretation, but Bure stood firm in her beliefs. The artistic director of the ceremony, Thomas Jolly, later explained that the segment was meant to represent a pagan celebration connected to Greek mythology, not mock any religious group.
Anne Descamps, a spokesperson for the 2024 Paris Olympics, apologized to those who took offense, stating that there was no intention to show disrespect to any religious group. Despite the backlash, Bure remains steadfast in her convictions, emphasizing God’s love for all individuals.
