Imagine embarking on a journey with your furry friend by your side. For many pet owners, this is a dream come true. Virgin Airlines is making this a reality by announcing plans to allow pets in the cabin on their flights. This move will make them the first Australian airline to do so.
The decision was inspired by a 2021 survey, where an overwhelming 85% of respondents voted in favor of permitting pets in the cabin. Additionally, 57% of participants expressed that they would fly more frequently if they could bring their pets along.
This move will align Virgin Airlines with major North American carriers that already offer this service on domestic flights.
According to CEO Jayne Hrdlicka, “Our love for animals has always been part of Virgin Australia’s DNA.” The airline aims to make pet travel a reality while ensuring minimal disruption to other passengers.
Small dogs and cats that fit under the seat in front of the passenger will be welcome, and an approved carrier will be used to keep them safe and secure.
While details on fees are yet to be revealed, the airline has addressed concerns about allergies and pet placement. They assure that strict rules will be in place to minimize impact on non-pet carrying passengers.
With this innovative move, Virgin Airlines is set to revolutionize pet travel, making it easier for owners to bring their beloved companions along on their adventures.
