Schepman said that the shooting in Denver took place in the area “where we had the most people partying at night.”
He said that there was a small crowd in the area when the killing happened, but that it had “dwindled quite a bit at that point.” He said that the shooting in Denver happened in an area where many people might have left bars after the game. The Denver Police Department said that a suspect who was arrested also had a gunshot wound that did not seem to be life-threatening. Six other people, besides the suspect, are also said to have been hurt, but their injuries were not life-threatening. Forbes says that shootings after big sports wins are becoming more common. For example, when the Milwaukee Bucks won the NBA championship in 2021, three people were hurt in two different shootings during the celebrations.
