A tattoo artist had to defend himself after charging almost $1,000 for a back tattoo that looks pretty… interesting?
Tattoos are very different from person to person because they are works of art. Some people love the way something looks, while others hate it.
There are many different styles of art, like realistic, neo-traditional, watercolor, and a lot of others, that are used to make body art. Each style adds its own mark to the world of body art.
They aren’t cheap and can often cost hundreds of dollars, with the price going up the bigger and more detailed the pattern is.
One man in Berlin spent €900 ($976) on a tattoo on his back. It’s a big tattoo, but the design is what’s really making people talk.
Mykhailo, who is 21 years old, has a lot of fans on TikTok because of his designs, but a recent one has gotten over two million views for possibly the wrong reasons.
In the short video, Mykhailo showed the stencil, which can be interpreted in different ways but looks like two palm trees coming out of a squiggly block.
As the artist confirmed the crazy price for the drawing, a few more lines were added to the customer’s back.
People were probably not pleased, and they let you know in the comments what they thought. “My kids can write better than this,” said one person. This person is writing on their own skin, and you all want to see it? I don’t get it.”
A second person said, “I wouldn’t get this tattoo if someone paid me 900 euros and gave me the tattoo for free.”
Some people thought that the design might have been made by a younger cousin whom the customer wanted to remember forever.

To clear things up, Mykhailo talked to Insider and gave more information about the design that caused all the trouble.
He said that he “overstated” the price on the TikTok video and that it was actually between €700 and €800 ($750 and $850). He also said that “freedom” and “beauty” were the ideas behind the design.
“I’m trying to compliment not only their body shapes but also their personalities,” Mykhailo said, asking why “random people on the internet” had so much time to post negative comments.
He said he expected the reaction because people get “triggered” when they see a young person making designs they don’t like.
