Seth Rogen is doing something different in a business where baby announcements and family photos are common.
The 41-year-old actor and his wife, Lauren Miller, have decided not to have kids, and they don’t mind talking about it.
In 2021, when he was on The Howard Stern Show, the Superbad star was honest about why he didn’t want to have kids. When the 69-year-old host asked Rogen and his wife if they ever wanted children, Rogen answered firmly, “No.”
How does the actor from Bad Neighbors work on so many projects at once, make pottery (which his Instagram feed shows is a hobby of his), and write books? Rogen says the answer is simple: “I don’t have kids, so I don’t have anything else to do.”
Miller, who married Rogen in 2011, seems to be even less interested in having kids than her husband. “The thing is, I think I could wrap my head around it [having kids], but I think she’s just like ‘uh no,'” Rogen said.
Even though their choice is unusual in the famous world, Rogen and Miller are very happy with their life without kids. Rogen says, “We have a lot of fun. I don’t know anyone whose children make them as happy as our non-children do.
Howard Stern, who has three kids, agreed with Rogen’s choice and said that being a parent requires a lot of sacrifices. “Having children isn’t easy. “You can’t be self-centered; you have to put your kids first, and they have to be your top priority,” he told the doctor.
Rogen’s response? “No, that’s not what I want. I don’t think that sounds like fun.” Seth, you did well.
In 2018, Rogen seemed more open to the idea of being a father. He told Dax Shepard on his podcast Armchair Expert that the topic of fatherhood was a “active conversation.” But four years later, it’s clear that Rogen and Miller are happy with the choice they made.
Rogen doubled down on his words when he was a guest on The Diary of a CEO podcast. He said, “I’ve been around a lot of kids, I’m not naive about what it’s like. Everyone I know has kids.some of my friends have had kids for decades.
“Some people want kids, some people don’t want kids. Really, all you hear is, “You live your life, get married, and have kids.” That’s what happens. Neither me nor my wife were like that.”
The parents of the Knocked Up star, who have been supportive of his choice, agree with this. “We try not to put pressure on them,” Rogen’s father told US Weekly. We think they’ll know what to do on their own.”
Rogen has a lot going on, like playing Donkey Kong in the Super Mario Bros. Movie, “and it doesn’t look like he’s going to slow down any time soon. And” it looks like his life won’t have a baby story for a while.
