On December 3, the performance “will take place in the Kennedy Center Opera House in Washington, D.C”., and CBS will air it later in the month.
Soprano Renée Fleming, rapper, singer, and actress Queen Latifah, comedian and host Billy Crystal, singer Dionne Warwick, and singer-songwriter Barry Gibb are among the awardees. The famous ceremony honors Latifah as the first female rapper.

A tribute to hip-hop’s 50th anniversary will also be included in the celebration.
“This year we pay special tribute to the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, a uniquely American culture whose constant evolution is one of enduring relevance and impact, reflecting our society as it has grown into an international phenomenon,” said Deborah F. Rutter, president of the Kennedy Center. What an honor it is to award an Honors to Queen Latifah, the First Lady of Hip-Hop, who has inspired us along the way, since hip-hop has long been a significant and growing creative form at the Center.
The performance will be hosted by Gloria Estefan, a 2017 Kennedy Center honoree.
