Most “of the time, we don’t realize how lucky we are to be able to” enjoy the comforts of our own home, use modern technology, and have access to three meals a day. We tend to forget, though, that not everyone is as lucky as we are. The story we’re hearing today reminds us of that.

The amazing story of Abraham and James will move and touch you deeply. These strong boys came from Sierra Leone and spent most of their lives without a place to call home.

When they moved into a nearby orphanage, which gave them the shelter and help they needed, their lives changed in a big way. During this time, Joe and Jamie Walker crossed paths with the boys, which changed their lives forever.

After the adoption process was over, Abraham and James joined Joe and Jamie on a flight to Charlotte, North Carolina. It was a special trip. When the Walkers saw the wonder and happiness in the eyes of the boys, they couldn’t help but feel very happy and satisfied.

Abraham and James have found a place where they can love each other and find gifts they could never have imagined. “Everything is magic to them,” their dad said. Even the easiest pleasures, like getting a car washed, become magical for these grateful people. This reminds us all to enjoy life’s simple pleasures.

Abraham turned 12 on a special day, and his family planned a fun treat for him. In a touching video that Jamie shared, she walks into the room with an orange cake with flickering candles and a carefully written “Abraham” on top, which makes the moment shine with pure joy and love.

The young man’s “eyes filled with tears because he didn’t know what to say. It was” a moment filled with pure joy.

Since she was from Sierra Leone, where birthdays were not celebrated, this touching event gave her a new appreciation for the joy and beauty that life’s milestones can bring.

Abraham later said in an interview, “When I saw the cake, I thought it was the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen. It’s not just a cake for a birthday. It’s a cake of blessings.”

Family, good health, and the chance to eat well and go to school are all great reminders that every day is a valuable gift. These easy but important things in life make people feel very grateful.
