DJ Casper, who came up with the Cha Cha Slide, died when he was 58.

In 2016, the singer-songwriter was diagnosed with cancer in his kidneys and liver. On Tuesday, his wife Kim told ABC 7 that he had died.

Willie Perry Jr., who was from Chicago, was famous for writing the Cha Cha Slide song and making it a dance.

Perry told his fans that he was diagnosed with cancer in 2016 and gave them regular reports.

ABC 7 in Chicago said that the cancer came back after being gone for years.

In 2016, I was told I had two types of cancer: renal and neuroendocrine, which affects the kidneys and liver. Perry told the network in his last interview, which ran in May 2023, that he was diagnosed with both types of cancer.

They tried surgery, but the kidney was connected to a major artery, so they decided to treat it instead.

Casper said, “I used to be 236 pounds, so I guess I’m about 60 pounds lighter now. You know “I won’t stop, right? I’ll keep going”. I’ll go on until I can’t anymore.

The artist said that his line dance trend was made for his nephew, who works at Bally’s Total Fitness.

Casper said, “When I first did it, I did it at Bally’s as an aerobics class for my nephew.

It took off from there. One of my most popular songs was played at the Olympics, as well as at hockey, basketball, football, and baseball games.

Everyone could do it.

Line dance songs became popular all over the world and were played at parties, school dances, and other events.

Perry went on tour in recent months.

In April, he said on Instagram that he would be performing at the Popworld Festival in Leeds, UK, in August.

Perry told ABC7 after his death, “Anyone with cancer should know that they have cancer, but cancer does not have them.”

So, keep dancing the Cha Cha Slide.
