She did get married and then split from her ex-husband Kendu Isaacs after that song, which caused a lot of drama in her life that got a lot of attention. But Mary has kept her head held high through all of this, no matter what. The singer is ready to move on with her life, but this time she wants to have more say over who and what comes into it.
Before the bitter divorce fight that would last for years, Blige was married to Isaacs for 12 years. Page Six says that the marriage was then ruined by cheating on her husband with her artist, Starshell. TMZ also got court papers that said Kendu allegedly spent more than $400,000 on Starshell. Besides everything else, Isaacs wanted a lot of money for alimony, child support, and other costs. He wanted $5,000 a month to give to his parents, since he had been doing that while he was married to Mary. It is important to state that Isaacs was both her husband and her manager.

“I am not responsible for supporting [Martin’s] parents and his children from another relationship, which he lists as ongoing monthly expenses,” Mary wrote in court papers, which Page Six reported. On the other hand, Isaacs, who also said he was “unemployable,” was given $30,000 a month in living expenses. In an interview with Variety, Mary talked about how she really felt about the trouble her ex-husband caused.
