Coi Leray is asking for female rappers to work together so that they can make a No. 1 hit like Lil’ Kim’s “Not Tonight Remix” from 1997.
On Tuesday night (June 13), the person who set the trend went on Twitter to talk about how to change that and make history at the same time. Coi Leray thinks she may have figured out why there hasn’t been a hip-hop song or album “to hit No. 1 on the Billboard charts”. She heard recently that there hasn’t been one.
Coi Leray wants all female rappers to get together and make a new version of Lil’ Kim’s “Not Tonight Remix”
In a tweet, the “Players” rapper suggested that the first No. 1 rap song on the charts could be made by putting together a group of female rappers.
“This year, there hasn’t been a single rap song that was number one. It’s time for all the female rappers to come forward. “Listen to me,” says Coi. “Ladies night. Hip-hop. Unity.”
In a quote tweet, Coi replied to a fan who had said that there were so many female singers that they would need up to 30 parts to include them all. “Some of us can share verses,” she said. Separate it. This way and that. Ad-libs.”
Who Was on Lil’ Kim’s ‘Not Tonight Remix?’
Lil’ Kim’s first record, Hard Core, had the original version of “Not Tonight” on it. In 1997, the “Not Tonight Remix” came out. It had singers like “Da Brat, Missy Elliott, Angie Martinez, and Left Eye”, who were all big names at the time. This song was a big deal in hip-hop history because it was the first time that more than one female rapper appeared on the same song.
Coi, the second studio record by Coi Leray, is set to come out on June 23. The album’s first song, “My Body,” came out on April 23, giving fans a taste of what to expect from the full project.
