This little girl was counting down the seconds until she could finally embrace her father, whom she hadn’t seen in more than eight months. She couldn’t wait another second.
Karis Oglesby, who was only two years old when she saw her father, 1st Lt. Daniel Oglesby, in formation in the middle of a homecoming ceremony in Colorado on Tuesday, she immediately began to make her way towards him. Karis was captured on video rushing across the gymnasium while wearing a red, white, and blue dress with gold boots that sparkled. When she reached her father, he knelt to greet her with a hug and then helped her to her seat by gently pushing her backwards over the edge of the aisle. According to 1st Lieutenant Oglesby, who has only recently returned from Kuwait and spoke with ABC News today, “I wasn’t worried about keeping the integrity of the formation.” “The homecoming ceremony is all about our families who have been forced to make the sacrifice of spending eight, almost nine months apart from their loved ones. I was overjoyed to be reunited with my wonderful little girl. Oglesby continued by saying that it “was a pleasant surprise” when his child impulsively ran for a hug.
He added, “I had gone in February, and although we were close, I wasn’t sure how much she would remember me or what her reaction would be when I came back.” “I had left in February, and we were close.” “I was so delighted that she was excited to meet me — so excited that she couldn’t even wait for the brief ceremony to be through first,” the speaker said. “It meant the world to me that she was looking forward to it.” In addition, the father of Karis, who is 33 years old, mentioned that he had only returned in time for the celebration of her birthday the next day. Today is her third birthday.
“If you think she was excited to see me, just wait till tomorrow when we go to Chuck E. Cheese or the North Pole,” he said. “If you thought she was excited to see me, just wait until tomorrow.” The North Pole in Colorado Springs is a small amusement park with rides and games. Oglesby has a daughter named Layla who is four years old, and he recently stated that his daughters and their mother “are going to be the bosses around here” for the next few weeks. “I’ll do anything I can to make up for the lost time,” he stated. “I apologise for the delay.” “I’ll get whatever it is that they want for them,” the speaker said.
