This little girl was counting down the seconds until she could finally embrace her father, whom she hadn’t seen in more than eight months. She couldn’t wait another second.

Karis Oglesby, who was only two years old when she saw her father, 1st Lt. Daniel Oglesby, in formation in the middle of a homecoming ceremony in Colorado on Tuesday, she immediately began to make her way towards him. Karis was captured on video rushing across the gymnasium while wearing a red, white, and blue dress with gold boots that sparkled. When she reached her father, he knelt to greet her with a hug and then helped her to her seat by gently pushing her backwards over the edge of the aisle. According to 1st Lieutenant Oglesby, who has only recently returned from Kuwait and spoke with ABC News today, “I wasn’t worried about keeping the integrity of the formation.” “The homecoming ceremony is all about our families who have been forced to make the sacrifice of spending eight, almost nine months apart from their loved ones. I was overjoyed to be reunited with my wonderful little girl. Oglesby continued by saying that it “was a pleasant surprise” when his child impulsively ran for a hug.
