LifeNews honoured mothers for Mother’s Day on our Facebook and Twitter pages yesterday. We highlighted mothers who chose not to have abortions in order to rescue their newborns or who took extraordinary measures to save their unborn or recently-born children.
Then, regrettably, we had to feature a Virginian mum who drowned her infant in the toilet and only received a three-year suspended sentence.
Thankfully, there are more mothers who will risk their lives for their children than there are of the latter. And this tale of a brave mother from the website Rare Profiles is just one of those.
Tragically, as a result of her bravery, this mother is in an extremely dire medical situation:
One courageous mother in Massachusetts spent Mother’s Day in the hospital after saving her son’s life but was unsure of her future mobility.
Christina Simoes told CBS, “I’m having a terrific day. “My son and my entire family are present. Nothing feels better than having everyone here with me, it’s just beautiful.
Simoes, a 23-year-old from Haverhill, Massachusetts, was at home on May 7 when a fire broke out, trapping her and her 18-month-old son Cameron on the second-floor balcony.
She claimed that she acted instinctively, adding, “I didn’t think about it. I was only focused on getting him out of there. He was far more important than I was.
Simoes decided to jump off the balcony after noticing flames only 10 feet away.
