Family members confirmed that Kenneth Mitchell, who was famous for his parts in “Star Trek” and Marvel movies, has died.
His family shared news of his death on his Instagram account, saying that they would remember him as a skilled actor and a loving father.
Mitchell had ALS for more than five years before he died. His family said that he saw every day as a gift, even though his illness made things hard.
Mitchell’s acting work included roles in many movies and TV shows, such as “Nancy Drew,” “The Astronauts Wives Club,” “NCIS,” “Castle,” “Criminal Minds,” and “Grey’s Anatomy.”
His big break came in 2006, when he played the lead in 27 of the 29 episodes of the TV show “Jericho,” which ran for two seasons.
Mitchell has been acting in science fiction more lately. He played Carol Danvers’ father Joe in the 2019 Marvel movie “Captain Marvel” and had several roles in the Paramount+ original series “Star Trek: Discovery.”
Kenneth Mitchell’s parents, brothers, wife Susan, children Lilah and Kallum, and many nieces and nephews will miss him. In honor of him, his family has asked that donations be made to ALS study.
59 years old, Kenneth.
