Regina King is finally talking about how her son Ian killed himself… She told him through tears that she accepts his decision to kill himself and talked about her own grief.
“Good Morning America” interviewed the actor and director, and she talked about Ian’s sad death in 2022… and talked about her hard journey afterward.
RK says that grief is love that has nowhere to go. She is trying to enjoy her son for all that he is; she even talks about Ian in the present tense because she says he is always with her. King says she doesn’t really have time to think about Ian’s choice, which she gets, since it’s clear to her that he didn’t want to be here anymore.
Regina says that being Ian’s mum was her favourite part of herself. In the end, she just has to accept the journey, even though she sometimes wonders what she could have done better as a parent.
As we told you… Ian Alexander Jr. killed himself on his 26th birthday in January 2022. He was King and her ex-husband Ian Alexander Sr.’s only son.

Ian often joined Regina on the red carpet. He even called King a ‘Super Mom’ on the 2019 Golden Globes red carpet and wrote a touching birthday message for her in 2021.
Regina seems to be moving on to the next big part of her journey, but Ian is very much on her mind.
