The reason Jennifer Lawrence told Robert De Niro to leave her wedding rehearsal dinner has been made public.
In a new interview with E! News, the Hunger Games star talked about her wedding to Cooke Maroney and what it’s like to be a bride.
“This is so stressful. It’s not fun for you. “Do you think that person is having fun?” Lawrence told the outlet, adding in jest that being a bride is “awful.”
“I will never forget it. I was freaking out that the guests would be cold,” the 33-year-old, who married Maroney in October 2019, said. “And all of my friends were lying they’re like, ‘Nobody’s cold, nobody’s cold, everything’s fine, everything’s fine.'”
But it was her mom who told her the hard truth.
“My mom was like, ‘It’s freezing out there, your grandmother almost died,'” he said.
Lawrence then talked about another part of the event in which she told her close friend and fellow star Robert De Niro to “go home.”
The actress who won an Oscar said she was worried about the 80-year-old’s behavior at her rehearsal dinner, especially when it came to making friends.
“I looked over and saw Bob wandering around like he doesn’t know anyone. I told him right away, ‘No, this isn’t what he wants to be doing.'” It was something like, “I don’t want him here?” “So I went over and whispered, I was like, ‘Go home’ and he was nice – he like talked to my parents and was polite – but I was like, ‘Go.'”
She said that after he left the party, it “really made me feel better.”
Lawrence and De Niro have been in three movies together: Silver Linings Playbook (2012), American Hustle (2013), and Joy (2015). They are very close, so I don’t think that comment will hurt their feelings.
The actress from “No Hard Feelings” and her husband, who runs an art store, began dating in 2018 and got married the next year. It was in February 2022 that they had their first child, Cy.
Lawrence told Vogue in September, just a few months after giving birth, that it’s “scary” for her to “talk about motherhood.”
She told the news source, “It’s so scary to talk about being a mom.” “Only because everyone is different.” If I say, “It was great from the start,” some people will think, “It wasn’t great for me at first,” and they will feel bad.
She then said, “Thank goodness I have so many honest girlfriends.” Who said, “That’s scary.” You might not be able to connect right away. It’s possible that you won’t fall in love right away. I was so ready to forgive because of this.
“I remember taking a walk with one of my best friends when I was about nine months pregnant. I told her, “Everyone keeps telling me I’ll love my baby more than my cat.” It’s not true. She thought, “Maybe I’ll love him as much as my cat.”
Lawrence had also talked about how much she loved her first child in another place.
Even when he did small things, like try new foods, she would get tears in her eyes.
She called him a “daily miracle” and her own “voodoo doll” because anything that hurts him also hurts her. “I mean, Cy’s happiness is just—Jesus, it’s impossible,” she said. I always tell him, “I love you so much it’s not possible.”
