Tina Turner was born in the town of Brownsville, Tennessee, which has announced their intention to construct a statue in her honor. Heritage Park, which is located close to Carver High School, which Turner attended, will be where the statue is eventually placed.

“When Tina stepped on stage, she owned it,” said the Mayor of Brownsville, Bill Rawls Jr. “We wish for this statue to be a representation of that fervor. Tina was an inspiration to the whole globe, and she showed the people of Brownsville that you can own your story about where you end up no matter where you come from.

Anna Mae Bullock was the one who gave birth to Turner on November 26th, 1939 in Brownsville. In the early 1960s, she began her career as a musician by doing performances with Ike Turner. The two eventually tied the knot and are now parents to a single child. But because of the destructive nature of their relationship, Turner eventually divorced Ike in 1976.

After parting ways with Ike, Turner quickly established himself as a successful solo artist. She is the first woman to ever win eight Grammy Awards, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and has sold more than 100 million records all over the world. In 2009, she announced her retirement from touring, but she has continued to release new music and make occasional appearances in public.

However, Mayor Rawls is optimistic that the statue will be finished by the end of the year, despite the fact that it is still in the planning stages. He is currently trying to raise money for the project by soliciting donations.
