Bruna de Sousa married the person she loved most in the world. But despite all the good things they were looking forward to doing together, Bruna didn’t think she’d end up in a wheelchair and needing help from a carer.

But she is still loved just as much as she was.
David César, her beloved husband, is the one who takes care of her. And their story really shows what love is all about.

David César, a Brazilian driver, still thinks about that day in 2018. He and his wife were watching TV when his wife had a seizure because her heart and lungs stopped working. The 28-year-old remembered how Bruna lost all signs of life in 3 minutes and had to be taken to the hospital right away.
“We rushed her to the hospital, and after 25 minutes, they were able to bring her back to life, but she had been without oxygen for a long time.”

Bruna can’t see her surroundings anymore, but she can still eat, sleep, and talk. David said that the effects of the accident are lasting and that she is in a vegetative state.
She was in the hospital for two years before David brought her home in June 2019 and took care of her full-time. After he lost his job, he couldn’t make enough money to take care of her and pay her medical bills.

He started collecting money, but that won’t be enough forever. He said, “We haven’t yet been able to get her to quit. But two lawyers are helping us for free. We live off of what people give us.”

But as more and more people helped, David shared great news when he heard about a treatment that might be possible in Canada. But he will have to pay a lot, about $19,000, to get to it. Which is why he had to raise more money to help Bruna come to Canada.

The treatment includes medicines and physical training for 3 years.
Even though things are bad, the pair stays together. May David’s love for this couple last forever and bring them all the happiness they deserve.
