Nia Long and Ime Udoka have decided to end their relationship. The couple, who have been engaged for over a decade and have one child together, has had a hard few months. The reasons for their breakup have been very public. Ime got in trouble, which made their family look bad and gave the tabloids something to write about. In 2010, when they were both working in Boston, Nia Long and Ime Udoka met. They started going out together, and a year later, they had their only child, Kez Sunday Udoka. By the year 2015, they were planning to get married. Nia once said that their busy lives made things fun and interesting for them. Nia is a very busy actress, and Ime trains different teams in different states. Nia said earlier this year that she was fine with not being in a hurry to get married. She told them that she thought marriages didn’t always last and that she didn’t think they needed a wedding to prove that they were together. She said in a podcast about getting married that it wasn’t “where they are as a family” and that their long engagement was on purpose. It’s not clear if this was a sign of trouble to come, but less than a year after they talked about it, Ime lost his job. It came out that he was having an inappropriate connection with a female Celtics employee. It was found out that the woman he had been with was Kathleen Nimmo Lynch. Long said that because of how much the news affected Kez, she had to pull him out of school. “I think seeing my son’s face when the Boston Celtics organization decided to make a very private situation public was the saddest part of this whole thing,” he said. She also said that 2022 has been a year of ends for her. Many people thought she was talking about ending things with Ime when she said that.
Today, we finally know for sure that Long and Ime are no longer together. Her rep confirmed a report in People magazine that they were no longer together, and she said again that Nia wants to focus on her kids and co-parenting with Ime.
