Most couples like to hang up pictures of their wedding in the living room, but this pair is homeless and doesn’t even have a place to hang a picture. A wedding picture even less. And this is the story of how they finally got to hold their first wedding photo.
Rosalyn Ferrer and Rommel Basco have been together for 24 years and are still very much in love with each other.
The Filipino couple is now in their 50s, but they have never had a wedding or even an official engagement photo taken because they never had the money, so to speak. In reality, they don’t have a home and live on the streets of Pampanga province. The couple has six children together, and all eight of them live in a small, homemade tent on what was thought to be a wasteland.
Both of them get paid to pick up trash like boxes, bottles, and stacks of old newspapers.
Most of the time, this couple might have to bargain for the trash they get from people’s homes and then resale as scraps. They barely make enough each day to buy food for the whole family.
The owner of a hair salon, Richard Strandz, has always seen the pair and finally found out their story.
Even though they’ve lived together for more than 20 years, they’ve never been able to pay to get married. It made him want to do something for the two of them.
He asked his friends to help plan a surprise wedding and photo shoot for the happy pair.
Richard and his friends’ help meant a lot to the pair. They had a good time at a charity wedding and then took some photos to remember it.
The day before Valentine’s Day in 2021, the couple took a lot of shots. Even though they had a charity wedding, they haven’t had their own wedding yet. Richard and his friends decided to take it a step further and helped the couple have a second wedding. This time, it was official, and the couple signed papers making them husband and wife.
