Since Friday After Next came out 20 years ago, not much has changed on the road to the last Friday movie. Ice Cube and his team have fought hard to end the franchise, but the studio has been a problem for years because they won’t accept the script. During that time, John Witherspoon, Tommy Lister Jr., Anthony Johnson, Bernie Mac, and Yvette Wilson all left the show as important roles. One person who is still living, healthy, and in high demand for the final film, if it ever gets made? He is, of course, Chris Tucker. Tucker has only been in the first movie, but fans haven’t given up hope that he will return in a big way for the last one.
Friday was a project that Ice Cube and DJ Pooh really cared about. The men wanted to show South Central Los Angeles in a more funny way, so they got Warner Bros. to pay for the project. Even though the budget wasn’t very big, they were able to pull off a good shoot and an even better release. Friday was a huge hit and has become a folk classic in the years since. When it was time to make a movie, everyone wanted more money and bigger roles because they were getting more attention. Chris Tucker famously walked away, which left his job as comic relief open. Mike Epps would step in and become Ice Cube’s cousin in his place.

The star of “Wild N Out” is known for doing a good version of Chris Tucker. In a recent interview, he said that it was suggested that he and O’Shea play the sons of Chris Tucker and Ice Cube. Young Fly says that this is the only way that Tucker would come back to the company. Earlier this year, he told Shannon Sharpe, “Chris Tucker told me right out of his mouth this year! He said that he would be in the movie if I played his son. I guarantee, out of his mouth! What he told me was this. He said, “I’ll be in the movie if you play my son.”
Chris Tucker hasn’t said anything about this yet. But a lot of fans think that Chris Tucker would be needed for the last movie because so many of the other actors are no longer here. Ice Cube recently said that he has been fighting with Warner Bros. over the last movie. Ice Cube says that he can’t make another Friday unless he changes the name of the movie and the people in it. Warner Bros owns the movie, so Ice Cube can’t use the figures or the name of the movie without getting in trouble with the law. Many fans have suggested that the movie’s name be changed to “Saturday,” but the director believes that all of the characters need to come back.
We don’t know if there will be another Friday movie, but Ice Cube has been working hard to make it happen. Just wait and see.
