A fellow police officer has died, and the Dallas Police Department is sad about it.

On July 6, officers were sent to help an off-duty cop with an ambulance after he or she passed out in a parking lot after work.

Someone who worked at the apartment building saw the man on the ground and called 911. The worker did CPR until other police officers and Dallas Fire and Rescue showed up.

The cop was taken to a hospital nearby, where they said he was dead.

So far, no more information has been given out, but this story will be updated as new information comes out.

The cop has been with DPD for 31 years and was put in charge of the Southwest Patrol.
