Delta Burke’s husband still loves her after 33 years, even though she’s been sick and gained weight.
On their second date, McRaney asked Burke to marry him. His friends didn’t like them being together, but they didn’t give up. For 33 years, he has loved her and taken her out on dates.
The star of “Major Dad,” Gerald McRaney, knew he only had one chance to ask Delta Burke out. Burke was a guest star on “Simon Simon,” which is where they first met. McRaney asked her out right away.
He said he would listen to anyone’s thoughts on his acts, but he knows Burke is telling the truth when she tells him something was good or he can do better.
Burke was nice enough to agree to a date. McRaney fell in love with her at once. He asked her to marry him on their second date because he thought they were a great match.
In 1989, after two years, they got married. McRaney did get the girl in the end. Burke was McRaney’s first wife in his third marriage. It’s been this long. He told them:

The actor really cared about them and thought their marriage would work. Some were against the union. McRaney’s friends told him it wouldn’t go well.

McRaney’s friends were not sure. He said that their good intentions were just fear. He would always say:

Both of you got it. Since they were both in the show business, they could help each other through tough times. Also, they tried to help each other.
One supports the other. Burke was thrilled and almost cried when McRaney won a Primetime Emmy for “This Is Us.”

During the show, her weight changed a lot. She left when she felt the worst. Hypoglycemia made it worse for her to gain weight. She tried to lose weight again, but it was hard.

They decided to move to Central Florida, so they bought a house there. While not retired, McRaney spends a lot of time with Burke. They brought up McRaney’s three children from his first marriage.
