Delta Burke’s husband still loves her after 33 years, even though she’s been sick and gained weight.
On their second date, McRaney asked Burke to marry him. His friends didn’t like them being together, but they didn’t give up. For 33 years, he has loved her and taken her out on dates.
The star of “Major Dad,” Gerald McRaney, knew he only had one chance to ask Delta Burke out. Burke was a guest star on “Simon Simon,” which is where they first met. McRaney asked her out right away.
He said he would listen to anyone’s thoughts on his acts, but he knows Burke is telling the truth when she tells him something was good or he can do better.
Burke was nice enough to agree to a date. McRaney fell in love with her at once. He asked her to marry him on their second date because he thought they were a great match.
In 1989, after two years, they got married. McRaney did get the girl in the end. Burke was McRaney’s first wife in his third marriage. It’s been this long. He told them:
“I wouldn’t let her go. There were competitors. I moved in right away because other people were asking her out on dates.
The actor really cared about them and thought their marriage would work. Some were against the union. McRaney’s friends told him it wouldn’t go well.
McRaney’s friends were not sure. He said that their good intentions were just fear. He would always say:
So what? Only they can understand how crazy this is. It’s true. I can call her at 2 a.m. while I’m out in the field. She is aware.”
Both of you got it. Since they were both in the show business, they could help each other through tough times. Also, they tried to help each other.
One supports the other. Burke was thrilled and almost cried when McRaney won a Primetime Emmy for “This Is Us.”

Type 2 diabetes was caused by dieting and years of trying to treat hypoglycemia without success. At first, it was hard for the actor to tell. Each doctor told her something wrong:
I travelled often. Was worn out. I felt ill. “I knew there was something wrong, but nobody could tell me what,” Burke “said. “Epstein-Barr was identified. I knew”. “One doctor did all the right tests and told me I had diabetes.
She” also took care of her mother, who was sick. She rarely ate well before her doctor told her she needed insulin treatment.
Both Burke’s mother and McRaney’s lung and breast cancers were cured. Burke said that her husband helped her through everything. He told her to take her medicine and eat.

The star said that she didn’t have any doubts about doing it again. She liked how easy-going her life was. Even though her husband would like to work with her again, he didn’t think she’d go back into show business.
They decided to move to Central Florida, so they bought a house there. While not retired, McRaney spends a lot of time with Burke. They brought up McRaney’s three children from his first marriage.
