Evelyn Braxton, the mother of singer Traci Braxton, was on the Smitty & Dee Podcast for an interview. She talked about how she deals with loss. Evelyn said she did her best to get ready for the death of her daughter Traci, who died at age 50 in 2022 after a secret battle with cancer.
“You can’t understand that pain until you go through it yourself. “But I thank God for the years he gave me with Traci and Traci with me,” the grieving mother said on the show. “I have nothing bad to say. I would rather she go rest in God’s arms than continue to suffer. I think that as parents, we sometimes want our kids to be around so we can hug them and see them, and we do this because we are selfish. Do I still feel sad? Yes, because I carried her for nine months, but you have to let go at some point for their sake.”
Even though Evelyn was still hurting, she had some things to say to other parents who were going through hard times.

“I believe that everyone has to deal with loss in their own way. She said, “I can’t tell you how to grieve. “It’s up to you to figure it out. Because my sadness might not affect you, and you can’t be told when to stop. It has nothing to do with them, and they have no right to do it. You’ll figure out what to do.”
Evelyn, who has five girls, also talked about how she raises them and shared tips on how to love each child in a family in their own way.
“Every single one of them is different,” she said. “Everyone is different, so everyone has different wants. We have to treat them the way they deserve. Because if you try to put everyone in one pile, you’ll make a mess. They will turn out to be angry.”
Blavity said that in an interview in 2022, Tamar Braxton also talked about Tracis’s death. Tamar said that she and her sisters all have a hummingbird-shaped bracelet, which is Traci’s favorite bird. She also said that each of them has a box with some of Traci’s ashes in it.
Tamar said that Traci had five hummingbird tattoos on her back, one for each of her brothers.
