The celebrated vocalist and ex-NBA star tied the knot in 2015 and are parents to two adorable kids, Rue Rose, 3, and Junie, 6.
Teyana Taylor recently went public with the news of her and Iman Shumpert’s split after being together for seven eventful years.
“To set the record straight, Iman and I have taken separate paths for some time now,” Taylor, 32, shared candidly on her Instagram this Sunday. “Let’s be very clear, our separation isn’t rooted in any form of ‘infidelity’. We remain close friends, efficient business allies, and co-parenting our two kids comes naturally to us.”
Elaborating further, she mentioned, “Above all, we’re FAMILY. Throughout our 10-year journey, with 7 of those as a married couple, we’ve remained genuine and true.”
Taylor, known for hits like “Wake Up Love”, and Shumpert, the ex-basketball sensation, welcomed their two children after their wedding in 2015. She emphasized that their decision to part ways was initially kept under wraps, allowing them to “navigate this change smoothly without unnecessary external interferences.”
She added, “I felt the need to share this due to the growing speculations. I hope this brings some transparency. And now, I’ll be gracefully exiting this conversation! 😘❤️🌹”

While Taylor chose to address the situation, Shumpert refrained from making any remarks or comments on her post.
Before this announcement, Taylor’s most recent post with Shumpert was a heartwarming birthday tribute in June. She praised him as a “king” and labeled him “the most precious gift I’ve been bestowed with.”
Expressing her feelings, she wrote, “Your birth feels like a celebration for me too because the world was blessed with an extraordinary person. My confidant, my life partner, the father to our children.”
Shumpert’s heartfelt post about Taylor dates back to Mother’s Day in May. He applauded her for being a phenomenal mother, saying, “Your resilience, determination, and grace always leave me in awe.”
Further, he expressed, “Every year, this day reminds me of your multi-faceted personality. And when you wear the ‘mom’ hat, it’s simply radiant and eternal. Your love and memories light up our life. You have our hearts.”
Though their romantic chapter might be over, Taylor’s recent statements affirm that their primary focus is on their two little girls.
Earlier this year, speaking to PEOPLE, Taylor shared insights about her children. She said, “They’re thriving and growing up so quickly.” Talking about Rue Rose, she laughingly added, “I’m astounded by her verbal skills already. She’s definitely an expressive two-year-old!”
