Tyrese and his production business, Voltron Films, have started legal proceedings against Teddy Pendergrass’ widow over who owns the rights to make a biopic about the late soul singer.

In 2017, Tyrese wrote on Facebook that Joan Pendergrass had given him permission to make a movie about the famous singer. He was thrilled about this news.

Inside the picture, Tyrese wrote, “I own the life rights to the Teddy Pendergrass story.” “He hugged me and told me, his wife Joan Pendergrass, and his loved ones, “No one will tell my story of my life but you.” I believe you will be honest with me and listen to my story. Still today, the act moves me so much that I won’t stop until it’s done… He was put to rest in this casket, and I promised to tell his story. I still promise to do so. In the name of Jesus, amen! The life story of Teddy Pendergrass is coming soon.

Joan is being sued by Tyrese right now because she allegedly refused to give him more time to write Teddy’s life story in 2022. Tyrese has also said that he has put $450,000 into the production since he first bought the film rights in 2011, and that Pendergrass’s decision not to extend the option has cost Voltron Films money.

Tyrese is suing for $1 million in damages to make things right. Joan, on the other hand, says she gave Tyrese the rights in exchange for his promise to support her late husband’s music and legacy.
