The 37-year-old “Level Up” singer said on the most recent episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast that the understanding came to her slowly.
“It’s almost like your taste buds change,” she told Entertainment Tonight host Alex Cooper. “You also need to look at yourself in the mirror every once in a while and ask yourself, ‘What could I be doing differently in my life?'” “I want a change, but what does that mean?”
Ciara said that having a child also changed things for her. She started dating Future in 2012 and later got engaged. In May 2014, they had a boy together, Future Zahir, but they broke up that same year.
She said, “There’s no time to mess around when you have a child. It’s very important to me.” “I’m now in charge of another life. What am I doing? How am I figuring that out?”
“I want happiness. She told Cooper, “I want to make sure my cup is full.” This is what she wants in a relationship. She then talked about her time with Future. “When you’re tired, you’re tired, and no one wants to be tired all the time.”
“Those are the things that come to mind when I think about something important in my life,” she said.
In July 2016, Ciara married NFL star Russell Wilson. Since then, the couple has had a daughter, Sienna, 6, and a boy, Win 3. They are going to have their third child together soon.
Ciara and Future, 39, still raise their son together, but their relationship is still rough. Wilson, 34, seemed to get mad at the rapper in his July song “Turn Yo Clic Up.” As he raps in the second verse, “I got it out the field / F— Russell,” it sounds like he’s talking about the Denver Broncos quarterback.
Future also attacked Russell in 2019 on the FREEBANDZ RADIO Presents: THE WIZRD show. He said that Russell wasn’t stopping Ciara from bashing him on social media.
At the time, he said, “He not being a man in that matter.” “He’s not telling her, ‘Slow down with that on the web,'” Do not even talk to him. I’m married to you! Don’t even bring up Future’s name! She couldn’t even say his name when it was me. She knows that. She couldn’t even name her ex-boyfriends.
In an interview with The Shade Room’s Thembi Mawema last month, Ciara talked about how she and Future co-parent and seemed to imply that things were tough.
“How does it feel to co-parent with your partner?” Mawema asked, which made Ciara laugh out loud.
Miwema laughed with them and said, “I’m dead,” in response to Ciara’s strange answer to their question.
Future has made many negative public claims about Ciara over the years, such as saying that she keeps him from seeing their son. In a string of tweets in 2020, he also said the Grammy winner was “out of control” and that he paid her “15,000 a month” in child support.
A source told PEOPLE at the time that Ciara thought her ex-boyfriend was making trouble to “promote his music by staying in the press using her name.”
“He doesn’t pay $15,000 in child support and never has.” “It’s not true at all,” the person said. “He has never been stopped by Ciara from seeing his child.”
We’re glad Ciara has dealt with everything so well.
