A lot of people love the rapper and hip-hop star Fat Joe. Family has always been a big part of his brand. His “brother” Big Pun introduced him to the world, and he is known to have close family ties with artists he works with a lot, like Remy Ma and Jennifer Lopez.
Joe is married and has a child in his real home. He’s become more open about his family life over the years. He says he was worried about this for a while because his son has autism.
Fat Joe has been a big name in hip-hop since the mid-1990s. His real name is Joseph Antonio Cartagena. There was already a third record out when he met Big Pun, another Latino MC. They became close, and the two of them started Terror Squad together. When Big made it to the mainstream, he brought Fat Joe with him. The two of them became stars. After Pun’s death, Fat Joe became famous and started having his own big hits with songs like “Lean Back” and “What’s Luv?”

Fat Joe wrote a long post about his oldest son, Joey, on his birthday last year. In it, he talked about how hard it is to raise a child with autism, especially since Joe had Joey when he was only 19. Joe says that he was scared when he became dad to Joey. Doctors told him that his son would have a hard life and that their family would not be the same. But Joe and his family never gave up on him.
Once Joe’s oldest son’s mother learned about his autism, she wanted to give him up for adoption.
Joey was born to Joe and a different woman, even though Lorena helped raise him. Joey’s mother didn’t think she could handle the difficulties of having a child with autism, so she at first wanted to adopt the boy. “His mom couldn’t handle him, so we raised him all his life instead of sending him to a center.” Fat Joe and his family decided they couldn’t give up the boy, so they’re going to raise him themselves. Joe is very proud of this choice. “Joey is just happy all the time.” He’s a real joy.”

Fat Joe feels bad for parents who can’t handle having a child on the spectrum, and he doesn’t sugarcoat how hard it can be at times. “And, of course, you know that kids on the spectrum are tough to deal with. A lot of dads leave them.” A lot of parents avoid their duties because they are hard.
Fat Joe was scared to show his son to everyone.
Fat Joe has been very protective of his son and has mostly kept him out of the public eye. For one thing, this is because of how mean people can be. The fact that he is in hip-hop makes this even worse, since rappers can easily target your family during beefs and hate records. But Fat Joe makes it clear that he has no shame about his son and is now willing to share their story in the hopes of inspiring and uplifting other people. “I’ve always kept Joey out of the spotlight because there are bad people out there that I didn’t want him to meet.” Many things have been done by Joey, and I think that my parents are still living because they love him so much.
