Willie and D.W. Williams are married and from North Carolina. They just marked their 82nd wedding anniversary, which means many years of love, happiness, and laughter. DW is 103 years old, and Willie, his wife, is 100. They also enjoyed their birthdays, which are only a week apart, and had been married for over 80 years. TV station WSOC says that a big party was held at the First Mayfield Memorial Baptist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, to celebrate this triple milestone. As Williams-Greene, their granddaughter, told the news source, “to see them at this age and still doing well; it’s just a blessing to have them here.” She also said that they are “best friends” with each other.
The couple talked about how cheap taxi rides were when they first met. They have been married for more than 80 years, and a lot has changed. But their love for each other is still as strong as ever. There was “the Great Depression, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Civil Rights Movement, and” 9/11. But they are still married. They both agree that they feel very lucky to have each other during these difficult times. This couple’s simple answer when asked how they kept their marriage going for so long: “Just be kind to each other.”
When their daughter and granddaughter threw them a party, the news spread quickly in the area. People from their family were there, and there were pretty tablecloths and flowers. Williams-Greene says that her grandparents show how to have good, loving relationships that last a lifetime.
“Communication, loving each other, and working together” were the things that made their marriage work, she said.
People in the neighborhood and famous people alike were moved by their amazing story. Many people have congratulated and said nice things about them since news of their accomplishments and celebrations spread through several media sites.
Willie was only 18 years old when they got married, and DW was about 21. They’ve been together for most of their lives and have always been there for each other. Just think about what they must have done!
They said, “I don’t know, sit around the house” when asked what they would do with another 100 years of marriage.
This lovely story about dedication and love that lasts is a great example for younger people. It might seem like a no-brainer that people should be nice to each other, but that’s not always the case in our society. And it’s clear that this advice has helped them over the years. Their faith in God is another reason why they have been married for so long. They are always in the front row at church on Sundays.
They have a long life and a loving family who loves and supports them because they have a loving and healthy relationship based on mutual respect and kindness. We can all learn from them how to be loving and kind, and then enjoy a peaceful life with family and friends.
