In the documents, Teyana talks about how their marriage ended, saying that Iman was jealous of her fame and didn’t think he was good enough for her, even though he was making a lot more money playing hoops than she could ever make in music.
Teyana says that Iman would get mad when they went to public events together and photographers would tell him to move out of the way.
She says that even though Iman signed a $40 million deal with the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers in 2015—the same year the New York Knicks paid him $8 million—he was still annoyed by her fame, envious of her acting job, and uncomfortable being her boyfriend.
Teyana says that’s when Iman started sending her mean texts with condescending and controlling language because she knew she was in the spotlight. She says that he would fight with her for no reason, even on her birthday, and then say sorry.
According to the papers that Teyana filed in Georgia, she now thinks that Iman was “being very mean to her and acting very narcissistic for most of their marriage.”
As Iman “became more and more angry” about her fame, she “began to purposely dim her light for her husband to try to have a harmonious and peaceful marriage,” she says.
Additionally, Teyana says she turned down chances to record and act because Iman “did not want her to work.” But she says that Iman whined that she wasn’t making money when she stopped working after giving birth to one of their children.
Teyana says she fought to keep their family together even though Iman was “very emotionally and mentally abusing” her. She says she used her ties to help Iman get jobs in Hollywood when his NBA career was over, but she says he “unfortunately insisted on bickering” so much that she started the divorce process in 2021.
They made up, but she says it didn’t last long because Iman “remained in an insecure state as his NBA career continued to wind down.”
In the papers, Teyana says that in 2022, she felt manipulated and controlled by Iman and filed for divorce. However, the next day, she asked her lawyers to withdraw the case.
Teyana says she finally did it in January because she “couldn’t handle the emotional roller coaster.”
She says that Iman has been involved in several cheating stories during their marriage. She points to his DUI arrest and remembers the time he was caught with marijuana in an airport in 2022. Teyana also says that Iman crashed her Rolls-Royce and then ran away to avoid getting arrested for DUI again.
He “reacted with further cruel treatment and selfishness,” Teyana says. She says she tried to stay with Iman through good times and bad. She says that after she quietly filed for divorce, Iman insisted on getting back together, but she was careless and inconsistent, and they got caught cheating again, which she found embarrassing and humiliating.
As we told you… They broke up in September, and Teyana said, “To be 1000% clear, ‘infidelity’ ain’t one of the reasons for our departure.” She now says she was just being polite to him.
Teyana says Iman moved out of their home in October and hasn’t spent much time with their two kids since. As well as joint legal custody and child support, she wants temporary and permanent main physical custody.
TMZ was the first to report it… In 2016, Teyana and Iman got married. They wore biker jackets to the ceremony.
In her eyes, it’s painfully clear that their marriage is “irretrievably broken” because of all the problems they have with each other.
Sources who know for sure tell TMZ… Teyana wanted to keep this a secret for as long as possible, so they chose to file with their names at first. However, Iman’s most recent divorce file included both of their full names, which made everything more public.
It will be interesting to see what Iman does about this. Someone is lying when they say they are best friends.
